Interview with Duc Truc Nguyen

Hi Duc Truc! Tell us about yourself in two sentences - who are you?

Hi everybody! I am just a newbie to photography. I am living in Dalat, one of the most beautiful cities in Vietnam. I started taking photos around 2 years ago.

QWhat's the weirdest situation you've found yourself in while taking a photograph?

AOne time I went to Hoi An, an ancient part of Vietnam. I found a very old and historic wall, and I was looking at it when I saw an old woman walking along it. I wanted to take a photo of her crossing the wall. A couple was taking selfie at the same time, so I asked politely if they'd let me me take a shot of the whole wall. I didn't know why, but the girl thought that I wanted to take photo of her, so she started posing in front of the wall for me to shoot her. I took 2 photos of her and then repeated what I had meant, and both of us laughed. It was a memorable moment in the trip. QWhat do you shoot on? What's your favourite set up?

AI use a Sony A7, I love taking landscapes, portraits and macro shots. I use some MF lenses, including Voigtlander, Nikkor, Helios... and a macro tube.

QWhat's your number one tip for an aspiring photographer?

A Understand your camera as well as possible, and take as many photos as you can. You can be the best teacher for yourself.
