There’s something to be said for a lakeside view. Something invariably peaceful and picturesque that has us flocking in droves to mountain, moor and the A82 to Loch Ness to seek out dramatic backdrops, scenic vistas, and the greatest legendary game of hide-and-seek the Great British underwater world has to offer. Ever. Most countries lay claim to a powerhouse lake or two; think Windermere, Como, Garda and Erie, but for each headline pool, there are thousands of lesser-known lochs and lagoons just waiting to be explored. Overshadowed by iconic counterparts perhaps, they’re no less stunning in raw beauty, and as luck would have it our photographers tend to agree. Some might be more well-known than others, some might harbour myth and monster, but they’re all equally stunning in photographic splendour. Enjoy a selection of some of the very best.
