This photo depicts two Gharial crocodiles which are native to India. They are also known as Gavial and the fish-eating crocodile. The gharial (Gavialis gangeticus) is listed as Critically Endangered on the IUCN Red List.
Esala Perahera is a grand historical procession of elephants, acrobats, whipcrackers held yearly in July and August in the city of Kandy, Sri Lanka. The festival pays homage to the Sacred Tooth Relic of Lord Buddha, which is kept at the Sri Dalada Maligawa in Kandy.
