Fort William is the second largest settlement in the Highlands of Scotland. Within proximity of Ben Nevis, the surrounding scenery and mountain ranges are some of the most picturesque in the United Kingdom.
Just before Whitburn the path follows the cliff top around to Marsden Bay around this point is a cove called The Wherry which had its shape defined by natural erosion, quarrying and mining. Part of the bay was known as The Lads and Lasses Wherries (a light rowing boat for carrying passengers) because of the fishing and picnics that were popular.
Two climbers can be seen climbing one of the ridges on Great Gable. I used to have a guide book with all the names of these routes, not that I did them. The most I did was the climbers traverse scramble and then threading the needle.
