A high explosive 1000lb bomb detonates on impact with Garvie Island at the Cape Wrath Range facility in northern Scotland. The range is one of only a few places in Europe where these weapons can be dropped on a regular basis. This weapon was dropped by a Eurofighter Typhoon of the Royal Air Force.
Built as an FGR.4, Typhoon IPA5 ZJ700 has been modified as a weapons systems development aircraft and is operated by BAe Systems under contract to the MoD. It is pictured being demonstrated at RIAT 2011 with a full inert warload of AMRAAM and ASRAAM missiles, auxilliary fuel tanks and Paveway guided bombs.
