| Caption | Hajj Mohammed Hamed was born in 1931 . He has been living with his children in Wadi Tadraat in the far south of Libyan Sahara without electricity or communications, without even the necessities of life, He's one of Libyan Twarqis. He refuses to live in Al Awynat town which is 80 km from where he lives . I asked him, Why don't you live in the town . He replied .. This is the land of my ancestors who have lived and died in it . I guard the rock arts and paintings, and I protect them from vandals . He also said that if I move to the town . The Algerian coastguard will enter into this area, which isn't their land ,and He opposes that . I asked him about his rifle. I said to him, It sounds Italian and very old . He replied Yes . It came to me through my first grandfather which is still intact . He also stated that one day, a man has asked me to swap it. I've noticed something during my talk with Hajj that he keeps saying May Allah bless it, at the end our interesting conversation . Hajj Mohammed says I'm Libyan and This is my home |
