Die Schufterei dauert den ganzen Tag und viele haben ihre kleinen Kinder dabei, mitten im kontaminierten Abfall der Mine. Eine Batterie benötigt ca.10 KG Kobalt. 60 Prozent der weltweiten Foerdermenge stammen aus Minen aus dem Kongo wie der Katanga Provinz. 20 Prozent davon aus illegalen Kleinbergwerken, wo Arbeiter zu menschenunwuerdigen Bedingungen für einen Hungerlohn schuften. Da die Metalle und die Lieferketten nicht zertifiziert sind, vermischt sich das gefoerderte Kobalt und niemand kann ausschliessen, dass Kinderarbeit in seinem neuen E-Auto steckt. Die Region besitzt die wertvollsten Kobalt- und Kupfervorkommen der Welt, die von der chinesischen Minengesellschaft SI COMINES ausgebeutet werden und Bestandteil jedes Handys und Smartphones sind.
