We Brits love nothing more than a discussion about the weather, and as the temperature plummets even further today here in London (and at Picfair HQ), it could not be a more apt time to publish the Picfair Best of Weather Photography showcase.
The weather is a much-loved and much-revered photographic subject. One has to be patient, dedicated and willing to take risks to capture mother nature at its most brutal, but the reward of a stunning weather shot is like nothing else. With extremes in the weather linked to climate change - one of the most discussed (and disputed) topics on the world political forum, documenting changes to the weather is of vital importance. World Meteorological Day 2018 takes place on Friday 23 March, and is a UN-proclaimed day of observance to raise awareness of climate sensitivity. This year, World Meteorological Day is themed on clouds, moreover how clouds need to be better understood in order to tackle climate change - more of which you can read about here.
Our photographers have braved the sleet, snow, rain, sand, fog, smog, heatwaves, gale force winds and the most perilous of all, lightning, to bring these absolutely incredible images to our buyers. So in honour of our fantastic photographers, here is the best of weather (that much-adored subject) in the Picfair collection.
