As the nights draw in and the skies darken earlier than ever, it’s time to bring in the last big harvest before the winter. From huge Combine Harvesters which cut through the fields to local apple farms providing eager children with an empty bucket, the harvest is a time when people bring in a bumper load of crops to celebrate the ending of summer and prepare for the cold months to come.
The Harvest is an important centrepiece in many different celebrations around the world. In the UK, Harvest Festivals have evolved from early Pagan rituals and are enjoyed as a way to offer surplus food to those in need. In America, Thanksgiving is a time to come together with friends and family to eat, drink and be merry. Celebrate in true Autumnal style with these hand-selected images of the harvest.
