Travel stories with the Guardian

08 May 2017

Posted by Gemma Suyat

Every week we like to show you examples of Picfair pics in the wild - licensed images being used by buyers across the world to help their businesses, publications, and websites stand out from the crowd.

This week our foray ‘In The Wild’ is centered on Picfair’s recent photographer features in British newspaper the Guardian. Our #CelebrateAfrica competition winner was crowned travel photo of the week, while another licensed image took the cover of Guardian Travel, building on our flourishing relationship with the paper.

In case you missed it, our #CelebrateAfrica competition (in partnership with Canon and New African) named Kiberia resident Brian Otieno as the overall winner. Both vibrant and inspiring, Brian’s stunning photo of film-maker, photographer and model for his self-styled colourful and vintage fashion, Stephen Okoth, was selected as the Guardian’s travel photo of the week. Stephen dubbed “Nairobi’s model citizen” for his “sharp style, and plenty of hope.”

Elsewhere, the Guardian were also busy licensing “Walled garden and roses” by photographer Roger Lane to become the cover of April’s Guardian Travel. The piece displays his capture of a colourful floral display, on the garden grounds of Spetchley Park Estate, near Worcester. A freelance photographer from Dorset, with an extensive portfolio on Picfair, Roger’s travels to the West Midlands have not only rewarded him with a stunning image but also a prestigious cover slot on a nationally circulated title.

From Kiberia to Dorset, we’re thrilled to play our part in helping photographers from all corners of the globe have their images licensed in world-renowned publications.

License stunning images fairly on Picfair from global photographers who set their own prices. Get started now.
