The city is also now widely-regarded as the most multicultural place on Planet Earth; over 200 languages are spoken in the Greater Toronto Area - truly a world in one city.
Sven Hartmann's photographic series on Toronto, shot in the downtown core, and with a focus on the city's architecture and infrastructure uses a distinguished palette of subdued and almost dreamlike colours. Combining this with heavy light and dark contrasting tones and subtle placement of people and situations, his photographs create a uniquely intimate narrative of the city.
