Switzerland might look like a mysterious place to a foreigner. Surrounded by myths and ‘clichés’ on its chocolate and watch factories, liberal economy or ‘neutral’ political viewpoint, this country is often apprehended through a stereotypical reading. Mountains and glaciers appear all too familiar to offer a general and complex view of this country. However, ecological disasters, and especially temperature rising, threaten these tourist attractions. Captured by various photographers, pictures of mountains and glaciers from Switzerland follow the historical myth of their representation while being embedded in a contemporary crisis. This selection of images, beautifully reflecting on these typical Swiss landscapes, also questions their sustainability and future.
