The world's smallest species of deer, the Southern Pudu, can reach up to 36 centimetres when fully grown. Its fur is dotted with white spots for camouflage. It originates from Venezuela. But there’s no need to travel all the way across the ocean if you wish to see the most astonishing (may I say dearest?) deers. In the UK, the easiest to find are the roe and the red deer. These are just as stunning, although perhaps a bit more robust in terms of size. The copper fur, the white dots, the almond shaped eyes and the thin, graceful legs can easily overwhelm any traveller with their beauty. For the time being, we collected the most astounding images of deers, that shed away any doubt as to why these creatures so often feature in children’s books. So humble. So peaceful. So poised.
