Satyaki has been taking photographs for the past five years. And is keenly fascinated by people and cultures. Being based out of Singapore, he has extensively travelled across South East Asia, documenting the journey with his camera. As reflected in his photos, he has a particular love for the Himalayas and visits at least once every year.
Favourite photographer: Fan Ho
Top tip for other photographers:
This one usually works for me. When I am on a photo trip, the first day I just head out on the streets without my camera. It is more of a "mental note-taking" session. Each place has a character of its own, and I feel I need to give myself some time to have an idea of the uniqueness before I start making images. I've noticed following this approach yields images with a better "connect".
Favourite photo:
I took this photo in the older parts of Saigon. I love the way how this image is all about order and balance, with regular shapes and straight lines, in an otherwise crazy and chaotic city full of life.
