Marcus is a passionate photographer, based in Iserlohn, Germany. For him, photography is an escape from his work as a software developer.

"I love the art of creating a different imaginative feel, to explore the unusual and seek out new places. I like to create atmospheres with the art of "photography" that appear unusual but reflect the peculiarities of nature and unique, everyday moments."

Top tip:
Basically learn the principles of photography and use them. Go out and take pictures, especially in the beginning it is important to make your experiences. You’ll quickly find out how you’re improving yourself and your photos. If you have no specific concept, be prepared for anything. Keep your eyes peeled and look for new things and new angles. Be creative.

Favourite photographer:
I don't really have an absolute favourite photographer. I’m inspired by many photographers who can be found on well-known social media platforms. Chris Burkard, Edin Chavez, Ashraful Arefin, Max Muench and Tanja Brandt are some of them. Their creativity and technical skills helped me to create my own style.

Favourite photograph:
It’s hard to choose one favourite photo because my photography is very versatile and I’m not focussing on a special theme. Which you can see very well in my Picfair portfolio. But probably the most favourite is the picture "Family portrait“ (see below). I took this about 3 years ago in Denmark. My two daughters love horses, especially Icelandic horses. So we were lucky to have a few of them near our holiday home. On a sunny day, late afternoon, I decided to walk to the beach, to capture the sunset. At a paddock, some horses noticed me and came up to me and so we just stood face to face. It looked like they were posing for a family portrait. It was such a special moment. I'm lucky to say that this photograph received several international awards.
