Rick Bowden is a photographer based in Norfolk England, specialising in landscapes. His images have appeared in numerous magazines, calendars, and ordinance survey maps. After leaving the military he took up landscape photography as a way of staying connected with the outdoors. Whilst still creating classic landscapes he has also developed a passion for photographing his local woodlands.
Favourite photographer:
It's hard to pick a single photographer but I suppose the one that started it all off for me was Joe Cornish. He's a true master of his craft and I love his eyewitness style and his passion for the landscape.
Best tip for other photographers:
Landscape photographers rely so much on weather conditions, and it is very easy to fall into the trap of not going out because the weather forecast isn't what we want. In reality, the weather often ends up being different and I've missed countless opportunities simply because I'd talked myself out of going. So my advice is to ignore the weather forecast and get out and shoot, and use whatever the weather conditions are to your advantage.
Your favourite photograph:
That's a tough one, but this image below taken of the old coal shed at Thornham on the North Norfolk coast is one of my favourites. I love clean simple images and I like how the shed stands out against the pastel sky and the blurred water. The shed gets cut off during very high tides and appears to sit on its own little island.
