Favourite photographer:
There are so many great photographers out there, also on Picfair. I’m really amazed by their work. But I really like the danish nature photographer Jesper Tønning. I’m amazed by the way he manages to catch the mood of nature, so inspiring, which takes a lot of talent and patience to wait for the right moment.
My best tip:
Well, as a photographer you are always learning, you’re always getting better, especially by learning from your mistakes. The best tip I got from another photographer was to spend some time shooting with all manual settings on the camera, to experience the effects of shutter speed, aperture, ISO and white balance in different situations. Then go to your photo editor app to learn what went wrong and why. That has been very helpful for me. And always shoot Raw, so you can correct most setting mistakes in post-production.
My favourite photograph:
See below, this is primarily due to the story behind the shot and the intense atmosphere behind the scene unfolding in front of me. It’s a photo of two musk ox in the far north of Greenland in Thule. They were fighting over some grass in the intense cold of north Greenland. In the winter the food is very scarce, worth fighting for. So these two musk ox started a staring contest while making noise and stamped on the ground. A very intense moment which I managed to catch on camera in the beautiful arctic evening colours. Eventually one of them withdrew from the competition without a real contact fight and the winner ate the grass.
