Miro May is a photographer based in Germany who specialises in portrait, travel, and documentary photography. Last year he spent time in Ethiopia documenting some of the ancient cultures of this untouched and uncolonised part of Africa. In particular, May captured colourful and vivid portraits of young people from the Boranan, Dorze, and Suri tribes – the Suri having starred in BBC Two’s documentary series ‘Tribe’. These tribes are all based in the south of Ethiopia, but they have different attire, religions, and traditions. We chose May’s 10 best portraits to showcase the beauty of these unmoved Ethiopian tribes.
