The UK’s famous Lake District has many names, including The Lakeland or more simply; The Lakes. From the various nicknames, it is pretty obvious which natural features dominate this picturesque British landscape – lakes! But this region of North West England is also home to some of the UK’s most beautiful and diverse mountains, forests, and wildlife.
The area attracts significant numbers of domestic and international tourists all year round, with many coming to explore, attend festivals, or simply relax in isolation. The area is also inevitably popular with photographers, who have consistently documented the stunning surroundings since the first camera arrived in the district around 1900. We take a tour of the district through these incredible shots by photographers who have passed through the area.
