Interview with Stefan Johansson

01 April 2016

Posted by Anna Fraser

Hi Stefan! Tell us about yourself in two sentences - who are you?

Hi folks! I am Stefan, a Swedish guy who's a travel and outdoors addict, and loves to take pics of the great outdoors.

QWhat's the weirdest situation you've found yourself in while taking a photograph?

AWhile in Iceland in January I was on the black sand beach by the small village of Vik in south Iceland. It was a stormy day with wind gusts over 20 metre per sec, so the waves crashing up on the beach got a long way up the shore. While standing on the beach, leaning forward against the wind and feeling sure I was far enough up on the beach to not get wet, I raised the camera to my eye and saw through the viewfinder a huge wave hit the beach, and the water came rushing against me... less then a second later I was standing knee deep in the ice cold Atlantic water.

QWhat do you shoot on? What's your favourite set up?

AI used to use a sony a77, but my plans this year are to travel and to shoot more than ever, so decided to upgrade to a full frame camera. Ended up getting a Nikon D750 which now is my main camera.

QWhat's your number one tip for an aspiring photographer?

AStop worring about gear and settings, just get out and shoot and have fun.
