Hi Paul! Tell us about yourself in two sentences - who are you?
My name is Paul Stewart, I live in Glasgow, Scotland in the UK and have done all my 37 years. I took up photography in 2012 after moving out of the city and into the more hilly parts of Scotland. I wanted to take pictures of everything around me. Everything interests me.
QWhat's the weirdest situation you've found yourself in while taking a photograph?
AI watch a lot of horror movies so when I trekked for 2 hours to get the "As the Daylight ends" shot I hadn't appreciated that I'd need to trek for another 2 hours in the dark, alone in the hills. It was quite scary.
QWhat do you shoot on? What's your favourite set up?
AI now shoot on a Fuji X-T1 mirrorless camera. I used to shoot on a Canon 5D mark III, 1D Mark IV and lenses that cost more than my car, however, it not necessary to use this stuff these days as technology gets better. The Fuji gives me everything I need, and I can use a lighter tripod, blend into a crowd and I don't draw attention to myself. My perfect set up would be a full frame version of this camera. I wouldn't need anything else ever again.
QWhat's your number one tip for an aspiring photographer?
ADon't try to be better than the next guy, be better than your last shot. That way you'll always progress. By all means look at other peoples work, but don't let it get you down.

'My favourite picture is my Ben Lomond shot. I haven't been able to recreate it and I've been back 7 times since. It was taken on a 10MP Canon 1D Mark III camera and it's significant because I climbed the 980m munro the week before. I do have a lot of faves, but everything came together on this shot.' Read less
