Hi Patricia! Tell us about yourself in two sentences - who are you?
I have been photographing for 40 years now and I love to make photographs of gorgeous landscapes and ordinary people doing their thing. I love to see the world through my camera, I think I see things better.
QWhat's the weirdest situation you've found yourself in while taking a photograph?
AI can't really pick one photograph but in the analog era I was in Varanassi, India where it is forbidden to make a picture of the cremation ghats. An Indian man said it was ok to make a picture from a certain spot and I went with him to a place which turned out to be a house for the terminal ill people who wanted to be able to get cremated at the holy river Ganges. There was a top floor with a great view on the ghats but it felt very wrong there.
QWhat do you shoot on? What's your favourite set up?
AI just changed from my Canon 5D Mk II to a MKIII and I love this camera. I have some great lenses and I love my old Canon 28-70mm 1:2.8L glass but It's so heavy that nowadays when I travel I usually like to take my Canon 50 mm 1:1.4 and my Canon 70-200mmL with me. It all depends what I want to do.
QWhat's your number one tip for an aspiring photographer?
ATake as many images as you can. You'll learn while you do it. You can learn a lot on You Tube as well. There are tons of good teachers and tutorials there. Get inspired to do something you haven't done before.
'One of my favorite photos on Picfair is 'alone with thoughts'. A man sitting in rest on the steps of his door in Meknes, Morocco. I love the contemplation and the colours.'
