Hi Jo! Tell us about yourself in two sentences - who are you?
I am an amateur photographer from Auckland, New Zealand. Photographing in my spare time, I love to see what the camera can pick up that the eye cannot see. My main areas of interest are macro, weather and astrophotography.
QWhat's the weirdest situation you've found yourself in while taking a photograph?
ANot sure on weirdest, one of my more uncomfortable experiences was when the jumping spider I was photographing decided to jump and then I couldn’t find it. Being spider phobic, this was not a pleasant experience for me. I discovered him sitting on the front of my lens awaiting his next photo.
QWhat do you shoot on? What's your favourite set up?
ACurrently using a Canon 6d camera and I have just started using the Laowa macro 60mm 2:1 lens, which I love.
QWhat's your number one tip for an aspiring photographer?
APractice, practice and practice. Try everything and hone in on what gives you the most enjoyment. Run with what makes you happy as it will show through in your photos.

My favourite photo is probably this one. One of my first spider macros. I love the colours in this picture of a little jumping spider resting on some autumn leaves. I may be spider phobic but have to say that ‘little’ jumping spiders have won me over with their gorgeous eyes and long eyelashes. Read less
