Hi Ian! Tell us about yourself in two sentences - who are you?
I'm self taught with no qualifications to speak off. I joined Rolls Royce camera club in late 1970's, but didn't stay long as it wasn't for me. Now a part time photographer, full time gardener. I love to shoot events, street, festivals and protests.
QWhat's the weirdest situation you've found yourself in while taking a photograph?
AThe weirdest and most dangerous situations I've been in is being threatened with violence when out photographing protests. I just keep calm and keep pressing the shutter button.
QWhat do you shoot on? What's your favourite set up?
AI use a Nikon D810 with just two lenses most of the time, a 35mm F2 and a 50mm F1.8 as well as two tripods. A light one for around town, and a heavier one for landscapes.
QWhat's your number one tip for an aspiring photographer?
ABe ready and have the camera close to your eye while working, batteries charged, the right settings, and reading the situations around you. A good picture happens in a split second, and average one happens the moment after.
