Hi Gareth! Tell us about yourself in two sentences - who are you?
Hi there! I'm Gareth, an English photographer currently living in Mexico City, with a passion for capturing quality imagery that oozes emotion and vibe. Photography aside I'm an avid traveller, humanitarian and cookie monster.
QWhat's the weirdest situation you've found yourself in while taking a photograph?
APhotographing at sunset on a beach, if I'm shooting along the shoreline, I tend to leave my camera bag a little further up the beach safe from the rising tide. On one particular occasion, I left my ND filters on top of my camera bag whilst I was attending to my camera and tripod near the shoreline. A passing dog decided my bag was worth a sniff…and urinating on my ND filters.
QWhat do you shoot on? What's your favourite set up?
A Canon 5D MkIII and 5D MkIV, choice of lens depends on the occasion, my 70-200m 2.8 is certainly one of my go to lenses whilst travelling, merely because you capture authentic moments from a reasonable distance without intruding. My 50mm 1.2 is also a close favourite.
QWhat's your number one tip for an aspiring photographer?
AYou reap what you sow, be nice! You never know who you might just bump into and the exposure it may bring you.
QWhat's the one thing you love most about Picfair?
A You, the photographer determines the sale price of your photo and you, the photographer keeps 100% of your asking price!

"This is my favourite photograph. It was never intended to be an electrical storm shot. I actually got up to photograph sunrise. However, after sitting on the beach for a while waiting for first light I noticed a distant flash of fork lightning over Hvar. I hung around and the forks of lightning become more prominent and more frequent. I reconfigured my tripod and camera setup “guesstimating” as to where the lightning would strike, exposing for 15-20 seconds for shot. I came away with a number of pleasing shots, but this was my favourite." Read less
