Interview with Filipe Frazao

22 January 2016

Posted by Anna Fraser

Hi Filipe! Tell us about yourself in two sentences - who are you?

I am a designer, photographer, sometimes a model, and a world explorer. Nowadays my real passion is the experience of traveling and taking photos together. There is nothing better than that =).

QWhat's the weirdest situation you've found yourself in while taking a photograph?

AThe weirdest situation I've been in was when I went to Milford Sound in New Zealand. I was with my tripod, everything set up perfectly to start taking lots of shots of the amazing Milford Sound landscapes. Every time I'd start taking pictures, mosquitoes began to attack me. They also attacked the camera and some got in front of the lens. I stopped, breathed, and tried again. But it was impossible, the mosquitoes began to attack me, some even got inside my clothes (I do not know how). It was a very annoying situation... I spent like more than 1 hour there. The funniest thing was that around 90% of those pictures had mosquitos in them... so crazy!

QWhat's your favourite thing to shoot?

AI've always been a landscape lover, maybe because I had the opportunity to visit nice places around the world. Nowadays I've become a big fan of nature landscapes... I like taking photos of an artistic sky in the background, with an amazing subject as foreground.

QWhat's your number one tip for an aspiring photographer?

ADo it with your heart! Feel the place and release yourself... you could have all the best techniques, but if you don't put your heart into it you will never get an extraordinary image. I am eternally grateful that God has given me the opportunity to travel to many spectacular places in the world, and to take photos with my heart.
