Hi Andy! Tell us about yourself in two sentences - who are you?
I am a born and bred 52 year old Yorkshire man, living just a few miles north of York with a very understanding wife and have two grown up sons. I am very lucky that my daytime job of rural Postman, covering the Castle Howard estate and surrounding villages, allows me to see some stunning local North Yorkshire scenery.
QWhat's the weirdest situation you've found yourself in while taking a photograph?
AI can't really think of any weird situations, perhaps more comical, such as very nearly slipping down a steep grassy hillside with my all camera gear, or the time at Coniston Water, where I thought I'd be walking on firm ground, but was actually trying to walk on a bed of floating leaves; there was a new expletive for every step taken.
QWhat do you shoot on? What's your favourite set up?
AI started photography 3 years ago, with a Canon EOS 600D and a kit lens. I've since moved over to a Canon 5D MK III and almost always use a Canon EF 24-105L lens. With my main interest being landscape photography, I have a sturdy Manfrotto tripod and a set of Lee graduated filters.
QWhat's your number one tip for an aspiring photographer?
ATry not to be a photographic 'Jack of all trades', spend time becoming comfortable and confident in your main area of interest. Take lots of photos and ask lots of questions.
