Around 31% of the Earth is covered by forest, and that equates to an astonishing 4 billion hectares (although this is far less than the pre-industrial world when forests covered 5.9 billion hectares). For generations, our planet's forests; beautiful, mysterious and complex have been a source of inspiration for artists and creatives. Painters such as Monet and Constable and authors including Jane Austen and Enid Blyton based some of their finest works on woodlands. Of course, this includes many photographers too. Ever changing and ever stimulating forests can provide a visually arousing environment for intricate nature studies or atmospheric, conceptual photoshoots. This is certainly evident in the incredible wealth of beautiful forest imagery available here at Picfair, and with our curated collection, we're showcasing some of the very best.
