Image pricing made easy: Why our prices look different

10 May 2017

Posted by Benji Lanyado

As part of our mission to simplify image licensing, Picfair’s latest update is focused on demonstrating transparency with our image pricing. So what’s changed? Well, from now on, the prices displayed on our images include Picfair’s 20% commission fee. This makes sure buyers have a much better idea of what the final licence price will be, while photographers continue to get exactly what they’ve asked for.

Here’s how a £10 image used to look, and here’s what it looks like now:

How does this affect me as a photographer?

It doesn’t! Your prices stay the same. We aren’t taking any more money than the 20% commission we always add on every sale, and you’ll still make the same amount of money on any images you sell. During the upload process, we’re also now showing you the exact price the buyer will see after you’ve uploaded your images.

So, rest assured, new pricing displayed on the website hasn’t changed how much money our photographers make on a sale and for buyers, image prices haven’t gone up either. Photographers are still in complete control of their pricing and we’ll continue to promote simple, fair trade image licensing. As always, if you’ve got any questions at all, please don’t hesitate to get in touch at hello@picfair.com
