With Earth Day just around the corner on April 22nd, we wanted to share some of our favourite shots highlighting the beauty and diversity of the planet we live on.

This is Luweng Jomblang, located in the district Semanu, Gunung Kidul, cental Java. Free translated the Javanese word "luweng" means vertical hole. There are reportedly around 300 caves in the Semanu area but Jomblang is the most well known. The cave is 80 meters deep. In order to reach the belly or main cave, you need to be in a reasonably good physical condition as you will get rigged up into a harness for the descent. Once arrived on the jungle floor, you will need to walk a few hundred meters towards the cave through a dense jungle floor to reach the cave entrance. A 300 some meters walk through the dark cave alley leads you further to the Jomblang cave where you can whitness the "cahaya surga" or heavenly light. Read less
