Hi Hasan! Tell us about yourself in two sentences - who are you?
I am a Bangladeshi man living in Toronto whose main interests are researching, traveling and photography. As I am doing Ph.D. in Environmental Law and Indigenous People, my future photographic aspiration is to focus on the global environment and Indigenous lifestyle.
QWhat's the weirdest situation you've found yourself in while taking a photograph?
AIt was raining at midnight in Ottawa. I was enjoying the rain from my window, and I was visualising some shots during rain. I could see the headlights of cars and lamppost lights were making a dramatic mood but were lacking a subject (pedestrian). Finding no other way, I set up my camera on the tripod, turned on the auto timer, quickly went to the street and stood under the lamppost light. But I could not get photos what I wanted. I did this for one and a half hours, soaked in the rain, but all went in vain. That was the craziest and weirdest situation I have gone through for my photographic passion.
QWhat do you shoot on? What's your favourite set up?
ACurrently, I own a Canon EOS Rebel T3i camera with 18-55mm kit lens, which I find comfortable for taking street photos, landscapes and cityscapes. I use Canon 50mm/1.8 for people, portraits and event photography. I have taken a lot of good nature close-up snaps with a Canon 55-250mm lens. Many of my favourite photos were taken with my Panasonic Lumix FZ40 (point and shoot) camera. I have no specific setup for photography and I always take photos on manual mode.
QWhat's your number one tip for an aspiring photographer?
AAlways carry your camera and take as many photos you can. That’s how you can catch moments you might otherwise miss and will learn a lot.
