With Halloween fast approaching, join us as we creep through crypts, catacombs and cemeteries in search of ghosts and ghouls. Hide among the tombstones in Highgate Cemetery (resting place of Douglas Adams, Karl Marx and many others) and tiptoe along the dark, winding corridors of the Paris Catacombs as we explore the atmospheric world of the graveyard.
The word “cemetery” comes from a Greek word which means “sleeping place”, and for thousands of years the act of laying the dead to rest has been an important aspect of many cultures, resulting in a huge variety of different kinds of graves, tombs and crypts. From solemn tombstones to celebratory mausoleums, being interred has never been so much fun.
