17 Spectacular Images of Fireworks From Across the Globe

“Remember, remember the fifth of November, Gunpowder treason and f-stop.” For the benefit of non-UK readers this is a phrase (that we may have tweaked) that has been drummed into the head of every child via a Nursery rhyme that commemorates the failed Gunpowder Plot of 1605; and why you cannot go anywhere on November 5th without hearing, seeing, or indeed smelling fireworks.

Fireworks are popular in cultures across the globe, with Diwali, Bastille Day, July 4th, Eid Al Adha, and new years among the many occasions marked by these bombastic pyrotechnics. For photographers it’s a perfect time to hone those technical skills and capture these impressive displays. Just grab yourself a tripod, use a (very) long exposure with apt aperture - and of course a hell of a lot of fireworks. The longer your exposure and the better your patience, the more fireworks you’ll catch in a single image. And please, don’t forget to lock your cats and dogs indoors.
